Well i'm a pittsburgher so i'll give you all that I know of.

Its pretty slow paced compared to the east coast. It is also very, very into the "small town appeal" or small city appeal, so if you like that then you will love pittsburgh, but if you don't like that way of thinking(I personally don't) then you won't want to come here. Make sure to look up crime rates because crime is bad in some parts of the city. If you are moving here, try to move to oakland, or shadyside, both are good places to live.

The traffic is horrible for it being a smaller city/area. and the public buses are very crowded, but you probably won't have to go far(its a smaller city). There are some nightlife things to do, but probably not as much in the bigger cities in the east. But the steelers and pirates stadiums are both new and great places to go. Also the science center has an I-max theater which is pretty awsome.

And it is much, much cheaper then the east coast. You can get a 30 year old ranch house in the suburbs for under 150,000.

This goes out of your question a little, but just incase you wanted to live here thats about all you need to know!

It depends on who you talk to. Coming from the Cleveland OH area to the Pittsburgh PA area....well, things are faster on the North Coast than they are here at the three rivers....
There's alot to like about the Pittsburgh area... the schools are good to great, the people are down to earth and friendly, the rivers and hills are beautiful, their children are very active in music, sports, dancing and scouting. But they kinda fold everything up early in the evening and put it all away....

Relatively slow paced - medium sized city.

Pittsburgh is presently grieving the death of a beloved mayor.
