Newdot is spyware, and therefore rather difficult to rid yourself of manually. If you know how to read hexadecimal, and binary decimal, and feel comfortable editing your registry you can try to hunt down all of it's entries and remove them. I would reccomend that you purchase a good spyware removal tool, examples include: Spy Hunter, and Spybot. I use Spy Hunter by Enigma myself. I don't get paid for endorsements, just telling you what I use. In the meantime you can follow these easy steps to stop getting the error message.

1. Click on your Start button, and select the Run option.
2. In the box that appears type the command: msconfig (minus the colon)
3. You will see a screen with several tabs at the top. The Geberal tab will be the default selection. On that tab the 3rd. option down is Selective Startup. Click that box to put a check mark in it.
4. Select the Startup tab, which is at the top, and far right of the window.
5. Scroll down the list of programs, and uncheck "newdot" from the menu.
6. Click the Apply button.
7. Click Ok, and select the Reboot Now option.

Newdot has officially removed from your startup group items.

The computer has had installed on it some software called NewDotNet. This is a software component associated with spyware. The software may have been removed. However, links to this software within the registry are still in place
To prevent the error message from appearing at start-up: Click on Start, Run, type regedit and press Enter. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Click on Run, then look in the right hand pane for any items containing the text NEWDOT. Select these items and delete them. Now expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and delete any items containing NEWDOT found there.
Other traces of the NewDotNet spyware may remain on the computer. A computer which has had NewDotNet installed on it may also contain other spyware so get a GOOD spyway program and run it NOW!!!!!!!!!

Well, karateboy, you met a black belt. Newdot is spyware. See the link for removal instructions.

And next time, try Google first. It's faster and I don't get paid to do your research for you.

Forget that! you need a decent firewall/anitvirus program running in the first place to stop this stuff getting on your pc.. try zonelabs and avg for the free stuff - much better than the stuff you pay for too! they will stop it getting on and delete the bad stuff that is there now
