I really would like to answer your question. However, this is not the first time it has been asked. And I have noticed over the years ( as I become more of a consumer ) that service is becoming worse, to the point that I don't like going to any store. The only store I have ever enjoyed is Nordstrom. They actually have intelligent and caring people, and plenty of them, to assist customers. I have shopped at Nordstrom in both northern and southern California and I am amazed at how consistantly good the people are that work their. That is it. It is evident to me that all other stores hire the least qualified and pay them the lowest wage. This means that people come to work, punch in, watch the clock, and go without giving a second thought to anything other than putting in their time. I tell everyone I can ( because I am asked often about where I buy my clothes ) about Nordstrom. I had to shop at Macy's recently because I forgot shoes on a business trip - and you guessed it - that is the last time (hopefully ) I shop there. And yes, I will tell people about that experience.

According to the training I received in my retail career 1 person with a bad experience will tell 10 others about the experience and they in turn will tell 10 others. People who have a bad experience will stop shopping at that store sometimes forever most for many years and will persuade at least half of those they tell to not shop there either.

People like me remember forever. I'm still telling anyone who will listen about my bad experiences at Circuit City way back in 2000. Boycott them!

Sounds like research that would be expensive to carry out and has commercial worth (ie would only be sold). I doubt if you will get a meaningful answer here.
