I was in Sears the other day and I brought my vaccum in to get serviced. The counterperson asked me if I wanted to pay money for an extended warranty for my washer and dryer and I said no. I bought the washer and dryer at Sears.
A few weeks later my dryer is not working very well. I need to get it fixed.
If I get the extended warranty, and then call Sears a few weeks later and tell them that my dryer is broken, I assume a red flag will come up. Sears will be suspcious and probably question me on that.
I am sure someone has been in the situation before. Any help would be great.

Buy a new dryer from Costco. If anything goes wrong, they'll take it back and exchange it for a new one.

Before you sign the warranty, be sure to read it. They could have a waiting period before you can make a claim against the warranty, or they could require an inspection of the washer and dryer before the warrenty goes into effect. Both these cases would be bad for you.
Otherwise, let them be suspcious, they won't be able to prove that your dryer didn't shoot craps the day after you signed the contract.

Only because my husband has been with sears as a repair tech for many years, Go ahead and add the extended warranty, what happened to the dryer anyway?

I don't think so. Try to go back to the same service rep. tell her that after giving it some thought, it might be a good idea to purchase the extended warranty, thank her(or him) for presenting the idea.......follow through with the rest of your idea, wait a while, give them a call. If anyone says anything, you'll have that salesperson to vouch for you. Sears can afford it. GREAT IDEA!!!!............LATER

Warrantys are a booming Multi Million Dollar business. They make getting service so difficult, you will never buy another appliance from them again. That's how they make the money to build their little 1000 employees call centers, they make money off you and me by selling a warranty, not service. WIN WIN for them.

thing is they asked you if you wanted to purchase it. i work in retail. if you have that warranty they have to meet it. especially if you paid for it. they'll get their money either way. question for you though how long ago did you purchase them? they may still be under manufacturer;s warranty also. check into that. good luck!
