I love Christmas, but with items out in stores in September and October, I get tired of it by Thanksgiving, anyone else agree?

Xae is right, in the store I work in it is better to get it now because each week as the holiday gets closer the sales decrease. Plus the stores home office does it all. You have to abide by their rules. Have to go by what season is coming up next. But consumers aren't stupid. They know sometimes it's better to hold out and buy after the season is over because of the discount you can receive.

I agree, but you have to understand the significance of the events.

Retail establishments do 1/2 of their annual business between Thanksgiving and Christmas. That means that a store that makes 30 million a year does 15 million in about a month of business. In making that money, it would be insane not to try to increase the revenue during the "slower" time by putting the items out early.

I'm not saying that I like it, but that is why they do it.

The stores want your money. So, they start promoting the holidays earlier and earlier.

I've seen Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations in craft stores. No Christmas trees in the big department stores, yet. Maybe next week? (It will be October, after all).

BTW- 87 shopping days until Christmas.

It used to be that Christmas stuff wouldn't be out until after Thanksgiving. It keeps getting earlier and earlier. I actually got a Christmas catalog in the mail the middle of August this year. It makes Christmas less and less special. The stores want us to buy earlier and buy more and more than ever.

We all get tired of seeing it but we are out there buying regardless if we need it or not. Stores need to bid on merchandise the earlier they do the better the price plus a week after x-mas they wont have the stuff sitting on the shelf and NOT MAKING A PROFIT,when they can have summer stuff and make the profit. So yes it is all about making money .

I know what you mean...but from a retail stand point it takes a long time to set some of the christmas stuff so they start as early as they can otherwise they would still be putting it out on New Years....Have you ever noticed the back to school stuff comes out in July? Wild business....

I get tired of it too.. but we are a money hungry society and so stores start selling early to make as much money as possible. I try to do all my shopping after Christmas (for the next year) less crowded and discounted prices...

I agree. But if you watch, they early market for each holiday.
It does in time diminish some of the enjoyment of that particular holiday.
But you know, the true joy of an event is what is shared from within your heart - so instead let's look at this as a way to longer appreciate the right to celebrate!

Christmas and Halloween are the two biggest money makes for the stores, that includes all other holidays, maybe that is why?

MONEY! Plus shipping and stocking issues. That is why the week before Halloween as well as Christmas things are scarce on the shelf.
