I am 5'2 I was 100lbs when I got pregnant with my daughter and got up to 142. They say gaining about 40lbs is normal. Some women will gain a bit more than that. If your doctor isn't concerned than you shouldn't be. Maybe watch your diet a bit more you don't want to end up with gestational diebetes but other than that don't worry. And since you quit smoking thta probably has a lot to do with it and I commend you on doing so. My advice is if you can quit for 9 month there is no reason to pick up another one when your baby is born it's still not healthy for the baby to breath in second hand smoke. Congrats and keep up the good work. My aunt died at 35 and left 4 boys without a mother because of lung cancer it's not worth it really. Enjoy those sweets hun I'm 5 months pregnant now and I've had two other kids, I love my sweets. Endulge yourself as long you keep it balaunced out with good foods as well take advantage of not really needing to watch your weight. Just be careful you don't get diabetes like I said. :)

Im so sorry its a higher than average .Women who are clinically overweight still need to gain at the minimum 15 pounds, and women who are underweight need to gain more than the average statement of 25-35 pounds, usually at least 10-15 pounds more depending on the severity of the weight problem. These figures are for the healthy woman carrying a single baby. Moms who are expecting multiples will need to gain more weight, although no standards have been devised for these special needs as a whole. To give you an idea of what the weight is :
7.5 - 8.5 lbs Baby
2 lbs Amniotic Fluid
1.5 - 2 lbs Placenta
1.5 - 2 lbs Breast Tissue
3 lbs Blood Volume
2 - 2.5 lbs Uterine Muscle
4 lbs Water
8 lbs Maternal Stores
What and how you gained will have an effect postpartum. If you followed the guidelines above you should be in good shape to start working on your body. Remember that breastfeeding will use up the stores of fat deposited by pregnancy very quickly because it takes 1000 - 1500 calories a day to produce milk.
If you gained more than you needed, you will have more work to do, but all is not hopeless. Although it is important for everyone to maintain a healthy weight.
Hope you and your baby have a great life and congrats!!

I did not, but know many people who have. I would not worry about it since your dr is not worried. Your body will tell you how much you need to gain to maintain the pregnancy. I have had the biggest sweet tooth ever when pregnant and would not give it up for anything. I had to give up everything else I enjoy so there is no way I am giving up sweets too.

I gained 50 lbs with my first pregnancy. My doctor didn't seem to worried about it. My baby was born 10 days early and he was 8 lbs 1 oz. 21 inces long. He was so healthy. If your worried about it talk to your doctor, and see what he or she has to say. Good Luck

this weight gain is over the normal weight gain. I suggest talking to a nurse in the place ur haveing ur checkups. see if they're on the same page. If this is ok for your doctor, i think you should rediscuss this with him/her and talk to the nurses there too esp. if they nothing is ever said about it everytime ur gaining. They should inform you about this. excessive weight gain should be a concern, but I do not know your condition. the normal weight gain is 25-35lbs by the way.

no, with my first one, I started at 160 and got to 169, that's it, I gained all baby, with my second one I got back up to about 160 from 140, and with my third one, I went from 125 to 145 and I still haven't lost all of that weight, :(, I think you'll be fine. My sister is having a baby now too, and she's gained at least 30 pounds, and she's due in November. Good Luck and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

I think you shouldn't overdo the sweets too much.
50 lbs. seems like a lot, but it also seems that if it were a concern, the doc would mention it.
I only gained 16 lbs. my entire pregnancy, but I realize that's not common for a lot of people.

I gained a total of 45 during my pregnancy.
The last couple weeks was my largest gain.
If your doctor is not concerned about it, I wouldnt worry about it.
Good luck
