A business plan is just that ~ a plan that describes your business. For instance I want to open a wedding store so my business plan would state the following:

location, services offered, cost of location (rent or buy), name of store, where I would get supplies, prices of services, employees needed (if any), goals of the store..etc.

You can find sample business plans online.

I have wrote one of these. You put this together to be able to hand over and submit it to people like banks etc to show what your plan is for your business. So you have your financial expectations. First year outlook. and then a five year outlook. you show your investments and equiptment. You write about why you are in the business you are in and basically write the story of your business. It's like a resume for your business. you include your own resume, in it as well come to think of it.... does this help?

It is a road map for your future business. It will declare your product or service that you are offering, the target audience and even go into financial predictions.
