your regeion code is incorrect or the disc you are trying to play / copy is in a different region- you can change it but on a lot of dvd writers or readers you only get a limited number of changes before it stays at the final one - on asus dvd writer it is 4 changes

try a program called Anydvd - this removes the region code from dvds (discs) and therefore you would not need to change the region code on your computers hardware

DVD regions are defined as:

Region 1 - U.S., Canada, U.S. Territories
Region 2 - Japan, Europe, South Africa, and Middle East (including Egypt)
Region 3 - Southeast Asia and East Asia (including Hong Kong)
Region 4 - Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean
Region 5 - Eastern Europe (Former Soviet Union), Indian subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia
Region 6 - Peoples Republic of China
Region 7 - Reserved
Region 8 - Special international venues (airplanes, cruise ships, etc.)

This technique was developed to enable Hollywood companies to release movies at different times in different regions.

You might like to try looking for a program called DVD Region Free. It does cost (unless you know where to look).

A DVD-RW's region can be changed a limited number of times via software. Or you can locate a program that will set your region to 0 or all. Do a Google search for this application. Hacking your DVD-R's software will more than likely void your drive's warranty, though.

Try Slysoft ANYDVD
http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html
AnyDVD works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie as soon as it's inserted into the drive, allowing you then to backup the movie using a DVD backup tool such as CloneDVD and CloneDVD mobile. You can also remove the RPC region code, thereby making the movie region free and viewable on any DVD player and with any DVD player software.
