i saw a very dumb question like five maybe four min. ago about the government being wrong or something. Does any one else feel that people who hate our country and live in our country are stupid. Should leave. And if they hate it so much why are they still here? They should be happy that they have the freedom to question our government without being killed.

criticizing one's government doesn't mean they "hate" it. What I hate is when people call those who criticize the gov't "unpatriotic" the whole point of a democracy is that 2 minds are better than one. Meaning if you truly care for your country you do what is good and right for it. Not just blindly follow whoever the current leader is. That is called ignorance. And last I checked, patriotism and ignorance are not equal. but they are growing closer and closer day by day.

Another great thing about the freedom of speech is that you can say whatever you feel about the government as long as it doesn't violate anyone else's civil rights.
I also think the government is wrong on a great many things. That is why there is more than one political party, and more than one person running things. If it was one view and one only, we would be a dictatorship.
Yes - we enjoy freedoms that other countries don't have. But I feel if I voted and I don't agree with how things are going, I have earned the right to complain about it. Things won't change if no one voices their discontent. . .

There is a difference between hating your country and hating what the current government is doing. The thing we should love most about our country is that it allows us the freedom to question our government, and even to tell our government that it is doing something wrong without fear of consequences. In fact, many people would say that the highest form of patriotism is to question and criticize your government when you believe it is doing something wrong. I would say it is your civic duty to do that. You can call people who criticize the government stupid if you want to, but you should deal with their arguments on the merits, and you have no right to tell them to leave. They have just as much right to be here as you do.

Sweetie, some of us don't have the scratch to just up and leave to another country. You ever stop to really think about your governtment and what its doing?? The stupid f*ckin president causing wars in other countries for NO reason. Our own troops died in Iraq for NOTHING! Doesn't that piss you off at all?? I suppose it would, your just an ignorant little girl I can't blame you for not questioning authority. Why are Gay marriages banned?? The government is afraid of what they don't understand. That is wrong. As for me being "stupid" for being here.... like I said, I can't f*ckin afford it, especially with the way our government jacks up the price on everything. ....have a nice day. :-)

You have a point and perhaps these people want to try and change the way things are done. That's is the beauty of our country and unfortunately the ugly festering pimple of it too. I think that there is a point where there is too much freedom. However freedom and responsibility as well as accountability are all relative and that makes it impossible for everyone to be happy with what they have for too long.

You so correctly espouse the freedom we have to speak out in our country with safety but you label peoples concerns, fears, etc... as hate and label them stupid, dumb and ask them to leave. There is a portion of our population here that really hate but it is so small compared to the rest of the country. We get angry and passionate (just like you are here) not because we hate but rather that we would like improvements and changes. Folks get frustrated even though there's no place else they'd rather live. Hopefully we can eliminate name calling and figurative shoving and learn to be respectful of differing opinions. We have a great forum in this country but there are flaws, and as you point out, we are not only free to address them, but we are compelled to. We vote. It's our voice.

If the leaders are truly doing something wrong, then they should stop.
BUT today's journalists have been trained to create stories. EVERYTHING is wrong somehow. So, they hype up every event, and make it seem like the end of the world. Frankly, Europeans are so gullible they buy into all of it too.
They should be sent oversees for a few years, and see what bad things really look like.

This is exactly what America is about. The peoples right to question and complain, to keep our government in check. America was founded by a bunch of men who questioned, complained and even went to war to make sure that in the future.. we could do just that.

I think that everyone needs to separate 1. Love/hate of our country and 2. Love/hate of our leaders, policies, and the general direction.
I absolutely love my country. I love the constitution. I absolutely hate how the constitution is manipulated and ignored by the administration. I absolutely hate the fact that the people in charge of this great country are ruining it with lies, poor planning, and their doctrine of greedy self interest.
