If an alien ship landed on the front lawn of the White House what would the government do?

Would they destroy it and ask questions later? Invite the aliens to dine with the President. Call a meeting of the world's scientists. Allow them to leave. You've seen all the science fiction movies. What would really happen?

Deny that it ever happened, Control the media so that the story did not get out, make a secret deal to acquire military technology in exchange for our natural resouces, and using the Patriot act, arrest and detain indefinately anyone who contridicted their actions.......

This is already going to happen, It will be staged. The Government and those ET's already met along time ago and they have been doing business ever since, even ancient civilizations have stories/myths and evidence of being ruled by or visited by the same species your talking about. Alto there are many one certain type will come and fool us all bringing gifts and wisdom & cures for diseases, like aids and cancer. The reason being, to inishiate the New World Order. They will creat peace a world leadership and a world currency (which will be a chip in or a mark on your skin, this will be the mark of the beast) and the beast (The New World Order) is ultamatly who is serving Satin.

But that is not even half the story, don't worry you wont understand even when it happens thats why they say the devil is the ultamate deciever. Because he is.

If Bush's administration were still in control, they would act like it wasn't there and hope it went away on its own, then when it doesn't send in a few 1000 18 year old's before getting the whole story, and then defend the hell out of their actions, only to find out later that the "ALIENS" turned out to be a new species of the common house cat.

That'd actually be pretty cool -- the White House is actually just a couple blocks from where I work.

I don't suppose they'd destroy it outright, but you can for damn sure bet they'd mobilize the police, National Guard, the Army, and anyone else they could think of to contain the damn thing and make sure the aliens don't try anything.

Attacking would be stupid -- anybody who can cross interstellar space can handle any weapon we've got. And the military would have its hands full with our panicking citizens.

'Allow' them to leave? Just how do you propose to stop them?

Personally, I think panic would be the order of the day. And why would they single out DC -- if they want to make contact, it would be with every major power.

Blow it up. Then say it was really a WMD from Osama and that we will are attacking North Korea because of it. He would then say that because Iran and North Korea sent postcards to each other, they were in cahoots, and then he would attack Iran and Syria. And because a democrat once visited Syria, he would attack the Democratic Party headquarters, because he thinks they are threatening the people of Texas ( w. has no clue about anything going on outside of Texas ).
