There is a breathing trick that will help with the process.
Professional Body Piercers use it when they push a big hollow needle through the skin, so I know it works for regular needles.
I have blood drawn so much that I have a scar. So trust me. I was scared also and my son is terrified too. This worked for him and me..........................................Okay tell the person that is taking the blood that you want them to put the needle in on the EXHALE. (it is an Eastern meditation technique) So you are now cool to know this. Breathe in deep and then breathe out hard , controlled, and slowly ,through your mouth (not throat) You will not feel it. (the needle).Oh and do not look at all at anything. ;) Peace

Thinking about getting shots or having bloodwork done is a whole lot worse than doing them. But, getting these things done is a fact of life. However, if even thinking about them freaks you out beyond belief, try not looking when it's being done. Close your eyes, turn your head away, and think about something that makes you happy. We have little kids "practice" blowing out their birthday candles - it's distracting to them and the deep breathing exercise is calming. Try that if you have to. BTW - let the person who's giving you the shot or taking your blood know you're freaking out. They can often make allowances for that so it's less stressful.
Good luck!!

Whenever you have to get a shot, have your mom or someone hold your hand. Breathe and don't watch when they have to put the needle in.

Look the other way and chalk it up because if you need a shot it is only for your benefit. It is a quick pinch and its all over. I have 3/4 of my body tattooed and it didn't hurt as much as I anticipated.
Once it is over it is forgotten.

don't look and think about something you always think about. I hate needles too! but it's better after it's done.

It is a common fear...
Amongst phobias, it is probably one of the more benign..
I don't know how to cure it...
