TF was right. The earth came from particles in a particular area around the sun that accumulated into our planet. The accumulated planet cleared the area of its orbit of particles. Geologist now believe the cold accretion theory best explains the origin of the earth. This means that the earth, at least the later accumulation was not molten. Gravity resulted pulled the particles, comets, meteors, planetesimals into larger groups.

The earth formed from a process that took millions of years to get to where it is today.

There once was a disk of material that existed after the sun was formed. This was called an accretion disc.

As clumps of material began to form it eventually gained more gravitational influence as it gained additional mass. More gravity attracts more material and after a long long time it reaches the point where it becomes round. For this to happen it has to reach the mass of approx. 500 km.

The larger the planetesimal becomes, the faster it grows. Eventually it becomes large enough to become a planet.

Oh, and God played no part in it!

Earth, along with the other planets, is believed to have been born 4.5 billion years ago as a solidified cloud of dust and gases left over from the creation of the Sun.
