Cichlids can only (and not every time, depends on the individual fish) get along with other cichlids, barbs, cory cats, catfish, loaches, plecos and sharks. See compatibility chart http://www.liveaquaria.com/general/fwcompatibility_chart.cfm . Here are some picture/varieties/ approximate cost of the fish http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pcatid=830

They are most likely yellow labs. These guys are very aggressive and territorial. You should add other cichlids to the tank depending on the size as these guys all grow fairly large. Try some P Socolofi. I have Blue Dolphins with my yellow labs and they are doing fine although it is not recommended. You need to provide enough territories for everyone and move the rocks around when adding new fish so they can reestablish their territories.

Are they yellow labs like in the picture/link? If so, they're an African cichlid, and a little more "friendlier" than most. On the top right of the page, shows view chart, will show which fish are compatible with them. You'll probably want to stay within the Malawian family-assuming that's what you've got.

I have one with a Jack Dempsey, an Oscar, An aztec, a plecco, a green terror, and a severum. They all get along well. BTW they are all chiclids of one breed or another.

You pretty much want to stick with other cichlids. They are fairly aggressive fish and require higher ph than a tropical community tank generally between 7.8-8.5.

Cichlids are very territorial and will eat smaller fish. Your going to want to keep other cichlids with them. You can try eels, loaches, oscars, plecostomus, sharks and crabs.

Keep in mind when picking fish to try to purchase ones that are the same size.

Good luck
