The Medical Assistant is alone at the clinic, the doctor is not in what should she do?

They can write it out if it is just a refill but the doc usually needs to sign it. Some doc's have a rubber stamp and that is OK in some states. Usually the assistant can call it in tot he pharmacy though as long as they know that it is ok'd through the doc first.

The Meidical Assistant can not write a prescription. Some Medical Assistants can get verbal permission from the doctor to call the pharmacy and have them refill the medication.

if the prescription is already standing at the pharmacy you can call it in and have it refilled, however you can not write out a script, only the doctor is authorized to do that.

if the drug is a prescription only medicine then only a doctor/seniornurse/prescribing pharmacist is authorised to do so. However since it is a refill, for convenience i think it would be ok for you to do so... but if something bad results such as death then it would be on your shoulders
