No bat must be out of his hand once the ball has been hit.. No you cant run to first with the bat or it's an out... Oh and i just wanted to say to KURT C Good one he did spell it BATH !!!!

As per baseball rules, if the bat remains in the batters hands once he crosses/touches first base, the batter is out, regardless of the result of the swing. For instance, in the movie Major League, Pedro Cerrano hits a home run and runs around the bases carrying his bat... by rule, the second he touched first base with the bat in his hand, the home run is negated and his run wouldn't score. All baserunners ahead of him would have scored though.

A hitter can carry the bat all the way around the bases as long as it does not cause interference.

Yes, I've seen it happen. I 've seen them run to second base. Must be legal, unless it causes interference.
