First, are you depressed? NO? Then it is working. This is a drug that needs to be monitored by your Dr. He should be doing blood tests to verify whether you are being maintained at theraputic levels.

Obviously timetraveller doesn't understand depression, they're just ignorant so dont listen to them.
I used to be depressed too, and I would always wonder "how do I know if the antidepressant is working?" Have you ever kept a journal before you started taking the medicine? What I did was i'd write how I was feeling before I took the medicine, then a week after i'd write how I was feeling, and I would do this every week. Then, if you compare your entries from before and after you started taking the medicine, see if your additude has changed at all. But honestly, I think you'll be able to tell if you're still feeling depressed while your on the medicine. Just think about how you were feeling before, and now how you're feeling now that you're on the prozac. Do you still have moments where you feel sad for no reason? Do you like to go out and have fun? Go and change your medicine if you feel like it is not working... I know it sucks but you'll get through it.
Here's a site you can go to that might be able to help you- http://www.depression.com/

Your meds are working when you start to raise your head and look at the world around you. When you start to feel better and not so black inside. When you feel like being with other people again and not staying alone in your bed sleeping. When you can feel pleasure in the everyday things of life. Give the meds some time to work and talk about your issues with someone understanding of depression. Try not to isolate yourself so much. I don't have a web site for you to go to but I have been there and know what it is like, I also know that the meds are working for me and I don't ever want to go off them and back to the hell hole I was in.

Honstly when I was going through a divorce I was a little depressed and took zolofit. I only took it for a couple months and it helped a little. I got off of it and felt better. Take vitamins and workout that helps. Depression, i think, is all mental and you can fight it.

As long as you feel better and are more stable your meds are working...If you feel that the depression comes back see your doctor..Also join a support group in your area...ask your doctor where to find one..Or start your own.
