Bugs of any kind will always be in your place no matter how much you clean. House centipedes are common pests. Unlike most other centipedes, this species generally lives its entire life inside a building. They prefer damp areas. They are found in cellars, closets, bathrooms, attics (during warmer months) and unexcavated areas under the house. Eggs are laid in these same damp places, as well as behind baseboards or beneath bark on firewood.

Centipedes can be prevented from gaining entry into buildings by sealing and caulking gaps around siding, windows, doors, pipes, wires and other structural voids.

Removal of habitats including trash, rocks, boards, compost piles, and other hiding places around the structure would help reduce the population.

Residual sprays like DEMON WP or other odorless insecticides should be sprayed along cracks and crevices. Treat all possible entry points including baseboards. Apply sprays in a 3 to 10 foot band around the perimeter of your home and potential entry points. Sprays provide long term residual that lasts about 3 months.

Use liquid and dust applications to get into wall voids. Treat any cracks and crevices that you see along baseboards. Good luck!

Don't worry about them. House centipedes are carnivorous, and eat pest insects like moths and silverfish.

If you're dead-set and determined to get rid of them, the better thing to do is get rid of their prey. Put out cedar blocks on doorknobs and in your clothing storage areas. Cedar repels pest insects that centipedes eat. With no food, house centipedes will starve or leave, and either way they're not a problem.

this could be a undemanding undertaking right here. at first you want to tutor off any exterior porch lights at night as centipedes are drawn to gentle. next, Centipedes stay in moist or damp soil and mulch, so get rid of any mulch alongside your doors, patios, or porches and replace with a border of super gravel or coarse dry sand, mutually with play or coastline sand. Make the border a minimum of one foot extensive, wider is larger. Redirect any sprinklers remote from the section so there's a dry zone around the porch/door/patio. this could decrease down on them a great deal.

Are they the little bitty kind that curl up behind furniture and stuff?

The best way to not get those is to not have mulch or dead leaves up against the foundation of the house.

If you are on an upper floor, then you probably have a different pest than what I'm thinking of.

Try putting hedge apples around the house. Be Careful though because they're poisonous.
