I just started using tampons and i'm not sexually active. I'm pretty sure i inserted the tampon all the way, but I still feel it inside me, particularly on one side of my vagina...it doesn't really hurt
should i just get over it, or should i keep practicing having it in there???

I think the fact that you're not sexually active DOES have some bearing on this issue and it DOES have a place in this question, it's not TMI. If you're not sexually active you should probably stick to the junior sizes.

and I really don't think it's possible she's putting in her urethra...LMFAO!

What brand are you using? Because you shouldn't feel it inside. What kind of applicator are you using? I am wondering because when I first started (15 yrs ago) I mistakenly put the tampon with a part of the applicator in and left the applicator on the tampon! LOL, so I could feel it. Usually if you haven't pushed it up far enough you will feel it. Sometimes even now if I don't relax enough I find them hard to insert. Also make sure you are using the lowest absorbancy so that it isn't being forced in or out! Hope this helped! I will watch this question if you post anymore details.

Those are a really good choice, I use playtex gentle glide and they are about the same. At first it is kinda scary because you are probably worried that you might push it too far or it will get lost or something but it won't. Just really, really relax and maybe try a really light flow kind first and use a pantyliner until you get used to inserting them and then you can go up to a heavier one if you need it after you are better at inserting them. You really shouldn't feel it though! Like everyone says just keep practising and you will get the hang of it, we all do! Good luck!

No, you should not be able to feel it at all - not even pressure.
The most likley answer is that it is not inserted all the way. You have to really relax your vaginal muscles when inserting a tampon in order for it to go all the way in place.

Keep trying and you will see the difference when it is inserted correctly. You'll probably waste a bunch of them, but once you get it right, you always will after that.

I think the best position is while on the toilet, but some women stand with one foot raised up on the toilet seat or a chair. You'll have to practice to find out what works best for you.

By the way, I have seen my three daughters through this process as well.

Keep practicing.

If it's inserted correctly, you will not even feel it. You will forget you have one - until you go to the restroom and see/feel the string.

Like another woman said, try the slimmer (smaller) ones - the lighter days are smaller.

Also, you need to coordinate your menstrual flow with the correct size tampon. If not, they pull as they come out - because there is not enough liquid on them and so they tend to stick to your skin... and might be why you can feel it inside of you also. Smaller tampons for light days, thicker tampons for heavier days.

If it's in right, you won't feel it because there are only nerve endings in the first third of the vagina. This is probably not the case, but I have a cousin who complained she didn't like tampons because she could feel them, but she wasn't removing both parts of the applicator!

Also, it's easier to put in deep enough if you're relaxed, second if you aren't dry (there is some blood, or you could use KY lubricant until you get used to putting it in, and it also helps if you twist it as you are pushing it.

first off you could have left out the part of you not being sexual active. that has nothing to do with wearing a tampon, and it was way to much information, more then we needed to know. That response is on a need to know basis. You should feel the tampon inside of you. You may be using to big of a tampon for your flow. You may want to try a smaller one. they come in all sizes. i do know if i use a card board applicator, that I can feel it. so I stick to plastic. it goes in much smoother and I can not feel it. you should not feel any pain, so try a smaller one and see what happens. I have a friend who can not wear tampons she get tss, and she feels the tampon in her. tss means tocxic shock syndrom. you may want to read the enclosed info in your tampon box about this.

I would say keep practicing. try smaller ones if you haven't already. Some people just can't use them.

I think eventually you will get use to it.

PS: I just love how Art The Wise is giving Tampon advice! :)

You shouldnt feel it if it is inserted right. Also try the smaller ones. There are different types for heavy and light bleeding. Maybe your using the heavy ones and you really shouldnt.
