do you have rear drum brakes or disk brakes if they are drum - then an adjustment might need to be made or or the lining might be worn down- in either case have them looked at...make sure you use good quality brakes never use cheap brakes parts its your life you dealing with..

p.s. might need to lube the backing plate also so have a look-see >>

Good Luck

does your car squel just in the morning or all the time?,need information, where did you get your brakes done are they pads or drums in the rear also is it just squeling in the front or the back, did you use cheap or expensive brakes? let me know then i can answer your question but the way it sounds you have a tattle tell tang on the front disk brake and it tells you to change your brakes, at that angle who ever did the brakes left out the baking plate and the slack is giving you a reading like your brakes are worn!!

I have seen this problem when the pads don't fit in the calibers properly. Their are anti rattle clips to hold the pads in the caliber.
If the clips are old they aren't working properly. The pads in drive will seat themselves, when in reverse they pull in the opposite direction
causing the pads to vibrate thus causing the squeak.
