I'm giving you a pat on the back, can you feel it? You topped me, since my husband passed away I have to take care of everything myself, Clean out the furnace etc. The only thing that I couldn't think I could do was completly change a doorknob which doesn't sound like much but I also was proud of myself. Kudos

All of the time! Wile growing up, I was always around people who worked great with their hands (my father was a do-it-yourselfer from way back and my brother is now a mechanical engineer). My mom and I were always involved in something, whether it be crafts, taking a hand in Dad's woodworking, etc. Now that I am married, my husband gets a charge out of doing home improvement with me. I have a thing for power tools, lol. I am so happy to see that more and more women are taking charge of their own problems around the house and not playing the poor, pitiful helpless wife routine. I know Donna Reed could have changed the oil in their car if she really wanted to! lol I will never forget the look on my husband's face when he came home to a wife attached to a jackhammer in the back yard (I was getting rid of a barely intact concrete porch). It's always great to lay one on 'em and see their reaction! Props to you for fixing the lawnmower on your own, I am proud of you - keep it up and take care!

And here I was so proud of myself for replacing the entire light fixture on our front porch since my husband wouldn't agree to a new one. Boy, I feel a bit lame after reading everyone else's! You women are AWESOME!

yes, my sis and I have hung drywall, replaced kitchen sinks, put up 6 foot fencing in the yard, these are normal things to us since the men in our lives at the time were completely useless....you will be amazed at what you can do once you try
