If they are really important there are services that will extract data from crashed drives. Very expensive.
You can also try Norton Disk Utilities to extract files. You need to save the recovered files to another disk. You can use a picviewer like irfanview to see what files actually contain, cause the file names may no longer be intact.
If you have a lot of pics, get an app to catalog the files so if this happens again you can use the app to verify and rename your files.
Also consider getting back up software.

Unfortuantly if your computer crashed as in you had to reload the OS then there is not much you can do.
You can take it to a place where they restore hard drives. They can pull the info off of the sectors on the drive. It will cost you about $200-400 depending on where you live.

What kind of crash was it? Did Windows completely shut down?
Did you have to reload Windpws? Reformat?
If the latter, you can't retrieve the photos.

that was one weird crash!
the only way out now is to use some good data recovery software.. i recomment the latest version of Easy Recovery Pro
