Is this a crossword puzzle with a certain amount of letters you need to fill in?

I'd say "Never return to a SIZZLING firework."

Never return to a firework once it has been lit. (course, that would make it a tad hard for clean-up) ;)

Unexploded I think although if that is the case do you just leave it there forever? Surely at some point someone will go and look at it.

Is "Un-gone-off" one word, let alone a word?! and anyway "a" would not precede a vowel.
How many answers would you like?
Apart from those I've just read (unexploded, lit, sizzling, green? - please refer to other answers for sources), I suggest:
-ignited
-smoking
-sparkling
-fizzing (if you're deaf)
-homemade
-suspect
