THEIR PARENTS ARE TOO BUSY AND CONSUMED BY THEIR OWN LIVES TO ACTUALLY RAISE THEM.
PARENTS ALLOW THEM TO RAISE THEMSELVES WITH ELECTRONICS AS BABYSITTERS.
NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE RESPNSIBILITY FOR THE WAY THEY ARE, OR THE WAY THEY ARE ALLOWED TO BEHAVE.
TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING KIDS FOR THE WRONG REASONS (TO HOLD A BAD RELTAIONSHIP TOGETHER, TO TRAP SOMEONE INTO A RELATIONSHIP, TO HAVE THE LATEST FASHION ACCESSORY, TO PROVE THEIR VERILITY, TO FIT INTO THE RULES OF TRADITION, IRRESPONSIBLE ABOUT BIRTH CONTROL, LACK OF FORESIGHT AND PLANNING, ETC).
HAVING KIDS AND BEING A PARENT ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

I think its the too fast paced world we're living in today. Everyone is on the run, heck living on fast food and processed foods cant be good for the brain. Not to mention the violence on tv, movies, in the world in general. Even the video games are violent. The lack of quality family time.
Yes I think that the lack of respect is a big thing. There was a time a kid would never talk back to a parent, let alone a stranger on the street.
This is a instant gratification generation, they want everything now. Then they get it, they're spoiled.

Yes.
America has its priorities mixed up. It seems that we establish goals that involve concrete physical things and we are totally confused when it comes to understanding and setting goals for more abstract developmental, emotional needs.
With children, sometimes they get a poor psychological foundation early in life and they can only hold themselves together for a short period of time and then as they are expected to mature, they fall apart.
I've seen kids who were ruined by the age of two. I think some parents are too tired to care what children are doing but some are also too non-involved to care about their children in general. In the PA dutch culture where I come from, respect is mutual - parents develop respect for their children and vice-versa. I think it works best this way.

It all comes back to the parents. If you do not teach your children to respect themselves or others when they are young then you have done them a misfortune. The youth of today are completely different than those of yester year. We were taught to say yes sir and no sir, don't talk back to your elders etc. I have seen 7 and 8 yr old cussing at their parents. There is no way this child is going to be a productive member of society. He will end up on public assistance or in prison. When my child was younger and her friends acted this way she would flinch. I don't condone child abuse but sometimes bad behavior deserves physical contact.

Lets put it this way, parents are lacking common sense these days, which makes it impossible for them to teach their children common sense. You've heard the term "kids having kids". That term doesn't refer to the age of the parents, it refers to the mentality of the parents. It's a very scary situation. Besides, respect goes both ways and the parents need to realize they are the parents, not the other way around.

If children are becoming more violent, it's partly because of Bush and his war and his paradigm of plunder and violence and personal gain. Hey, if it's OK for a President and a nation to conduct its business that way, then, what kind of message does such greed and violence send to children? Personally, though, and I'm an expert, I don't see young people being more violent today as they seem to be more fatalistic.

we do not give consequenses and if we do we end up giving in because it is to hard to follow through with it. we refuse to make our kids to be responsible for there actions making us not be responsible for our kids and it is very sad if you ask me. Parenting is not easy yet everyone is trying to take the easiest way they can even if it is the wrong way

Because parents are not taking responsibility for raising their kids. they are in denial that their kids are doing wrong or bad. This is translated to transferring blame and if they are never blamed then they will never curb their attitude or their behavior.
parents are to blame not video games. There is no ownership anymore for kids who do rotten things. they just deny deny deny...
