This is like asking how many miles are in a foot. Centimeters are 100ths of a meter, and millimeters are 1000ths of a meter. (centi = 100, milli = 1000. This is where we get cents - 100ths of a dollar.) There are 10 millimeters in one centimeter. So one tenth of a centimeter equals one millimeter.

welll since a millimeter is smaller than a centimeter you don't quite have one full centimeter yet
1cm = 10mm
so 3mm = 0.3cm
one dime is apporximately 1mm
