I always tip unless they didn't provide their services. next time ask her if she could just let you relax or take a cat nap while she wrks! Usually ppl want their therapist to talk 2 them its a time to relax and alot of times they are seen as an outlet or counselor

No. When you're getting a massage, it's supposed to be a relaxing experience. And having someone gab the entire time is not what you're paying for. I would suggest that if you return to the same massage therapist, you can ask him or her kindly to knock off the chatter when you're trying to relax. If he or she doesn't respect a reasonable request, I would tell the proprietor of the establishment (if it's someone other than your therapist) about your experiences. If you like the establishment and they have other therapists, I would ask for a different person. I believe massage therapist are taught that they aren't try to talk to you when they're working.

I am a massage therapist. I definitely don't just start chatting away (unless my clients want to talk!) during the session. I think that it takes away from the general relaxing atmosphere.

If you wanted her to stop, however, you should have said something. I know it may be uncomfortable, but maybe phrase it in a nice way. We look to our clients for clues on whether or not they are enjoying the treatment.

If you voiced your concern at some point and she STILL kept chatting, or if you complained afterwards, I would understand if you didn't leave a tip. Otherwise, she probably would just feel jipped. Us therapists rely on tips to make our money.

Yes by all means your massage person was doing a good job by talking to you during your massage. Alot of folks are embarassed when they get a massage due to body parts showing. The therapist was keeping your mind off what you might be thinking and your being uncomfortable during your massage time

HUH! Wait a second......You are already in theory paying for "tips" whether it be on love, live or well being. If she is balancing her check book, nodding every once in a while and letting you just yak away you can do THAT at home with a therapeutic bowl of ice cream in front of a mirror.(don't knock it, it works to "self talk")

No, no tip....in a money fashion anyway. Maybe next time you can start your appointment off by saying, "I am having a hard time dealing with people not giving me the PAID for attention I need"

That outta make her put her PERSONAL stuff on the backburner. But really, try the ice cream/mirror thing.......you may be suprised what you say to yourself and even MORE suprised at the honest answers you give yourself.

Much Luck

Maybe you should try telling her that you need some quiet time during the massage before your session starts next time...

She may not even realize she's doing it. By the nature of your question, I assume you already paid and got out of there for the day. Maybe don't tip her if you feel it was awful....

But if the massage was otherwise good, maybe you should have tipped her and told her at the same time what you would like next time, ie less chat, more rub.

You have to indicate to the massage therapist what mood you want at the time. If you gave no indication you wanted quiet and you responded either in a yea that's nice or any other matter she may have thought you wanted light conversation.

If she did a good job, yeah. If the talking is annoying, next time you go, as soon as you see her say "man, I've had a rough week, I'm really looking forward to some quiet relaxing time now" Hopefully she'll take the hint and give you some "quiet time"

Wouldn't it be better to tell her what you need? It is very simple, Just say "please turn on some relaxing music.I am really looking forward to relaxing to the Peace and quit."

I hate that! I didn't. She even had a phone in the room and was booking appointments.
