They continually seek rights for the enemy but not the rights to our soldiers? Our enemy is being held with 3 square meals day, they are safe from the war, they have speicial privileges..,their prayers special foods..,do our soldiers have these things? Are our soldiers given these luxuries? We dont even treat our prisioners here in the states the way our enemies get treated..,can someone tell me how this is torture?Cant the left see that the more vomit of hatred for this country that spews out or their mouths the more it feeds the enemy?Jane Fonda was proof of that..,she has a picture on the wall at Hanoi Hotel and the vietnamese will tell you how much they loved and fed off of what she was doing.I cant understand why people want to spit in the face of the people protecting them.

They will never admit anything. I do not know if they are naive or if they dislike this country so much that they would prefer that the terrorists prevail.
I believe their insistence on political correctness costs not only the lives of American servicemen but the lives of enemies as well.
If we were able to inflict maximum damage and end the war quickly both sides would have lives spared.

Simply being fed and not tortured- those aren't special privileges.. and all prisoners should be treated as prisoners- whether they be Iraqi, Pakistani, Chinese, American, African, Saudi, or Russian.
Our soldiers rights are guaranteed under our own constitution & military laws, but there have been widely publicized attempts by this administration to deny basic rights to detainees/prisoners by the current administration. And lets remember, simply being detained does NOT make one guilty, or the enemy. We are fighting in countries packed full of innocent civilians, so yeah- we've got the added burden of making sure we aren't scooping up innocents with the bad guys.
Sure, there have been a few attempts to railroad our soldiers in the name of political correctness (which is wrong) but our legal system is good enough to handle that. We've got advocates fighting for those guys. If someone's trying to play fast & loose to dump blame onto soliders while letting their superiors off the hook, we WILL sniff that out. A side-effect of out-of-control media is that it works both ways, and we've got politicians looking to capitalize here, too. If there's anything to the story, it won't stay buried.
But the problem of detainee treatment is MUCH bigger, since it's being watched by the world, and our treatment of POWs will definitely determine how much respect our country gets, and how our captured soldiers are treated. That's not political correctness, that's just a plain ugly fact of war. If we adopt the same interrogation tactics as Syria & China, we are no better than them.
The notion that we're somehow going to WIN any war by being more brutal, more cavalier about human life, more inhumane than the killers we're trying to stop is just childish naivete with a right-wing twist.
The fact is, there are no shortcuts in war. The end does NOT justify the means. If we employ the tactics of terrorists, we become terrorists, at which point our enemies have won, because we've made their lies & propaganda true. Our actions, not our motives are what we're judged upon. While it might be pragmatic to ignore the Geneva conventions, neither we- nor any civilized nation, can afford to.

As one of your "leftists" I can honestly say that I do not seek rights for our enemies but not our own troops. I know of none that do. I seek rights for our own troops also. As a "leftist" I am able to look at the big picture and not simply focus on the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. We are fighting terrorist and insurgent cells right now. This will not always be the Case. In time we may find ourselves in a war with an established army. Then it will be very important for us to have a reputation of fair and decent treatment of prisoners. It is in the interest of our own future captive soldiers that I want us to abide by the spirit of the Geneva Conventions.
As per your other points, water boarding is torture no matter how you describe it, I have never vomited hatred for our troops or our country.
If you feel that when a person speaks his or her opinion concerning this nation, it's government or it's policies they are "feeding the enemy" or are somehow unpatriotic then I would strongly suggest ma'am that you pick up a copy of the constitution. It is not unpatriotic to voice our opinion, it is unpatriotic to stop us from doing so. We United States citizens. We have freedom of speech, we do not torture captives. That is who we are. When we stop being that free and just society, then and only then, we will lose.

It would have been fine with you then for the nicely-uniformed Germans to torture the plain-clothes French Resistance? And what you call our enemy, those people in Guantanamo and who knows where else, what exactly did they do? How do you know? If you are so sure, why have many of them been released after years in prison? And our enemies presumably include Jose Padilla, a US citizen arrested on US soil, held without charge so far for 3 years. If he did anything, let's see the evidence. It could be any of us next. And even if you think George can do no wrong, are you happy with the idea of Hillary having all that power?

Good Question!! Maybe when we stop fighting politcally correct and take care of the job. But then they would be mad about that. I think that there is no way to convince some people and some people are never happy, no matter what you do. Even the truth and common sense does not seem to satisfy these people.
Since when did Hollywood become the expert on these things anyway? None of them live in reality. I mean when you pay 35 mill for a house and 100k for a stupid barely there dress for the oscars, then what kind of reality is that?

First of all, everyone loses in every war.
Second, the Geneva conventions were established to provide for humane treatment of ALL soldiers, our soldiers included.
When Bush and his crew disregard the geneva conventions on some technicality like "enemy combatants" or not held on "american soil" THEY put the lives of american soldiers in greater danger - as our enemies are more likely to torture our soldiers if we torture theirs.
Listen to what the military men are saying. John McCain was a POW for 5 years in Vietnam - he was a key congressman to prevent Bush's continued use of torture. General Colin Powell, former secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, also said that our american soldiers are in greater danger if we don't abide by the Geneva conventions in how we treat our prisoners.
YOU are RIGHT to be concerned about American soldiers! But you are being lied to and conned by your President.

Sorry but your enemies are not being held with three meals a day they are being tortured and subjected to cruel and unusual punishment as several reports and court cases have attested. Plus innocent iraqis have been shot, raped and tortured by British And American Soldiers.
It has undermined our credibility as having good intentions to stabilise and democratise the region. If anything it has caused disillusionment among iraqi people and made the USA and UK seem no better than the terrorist groups.
Hardly a way to win a war or protect your country.

hello where are you living in Ohio? Watch Fox channel by any chance?
C'mon dogs, genitals, hooding, jails, torture, degradation, chaining, no legal rights, redress... where are you? where is your head? wrapped up in the flag? You want to try that treatment by US?
Now maybe you know why US prisoners get beheaded..
All the "good" things you list, were added by Bush and team when it became clear how BADLY prisoners were being maltreated so they did this and THEN invited Red Cross in to see much if not all of this is a public image ploy.. please wake up to reality. And is this a politically correct war? Pray tell me what is a politically correct war?
