just turn each fraction into is decimal value and that will tell you which one is larger

15/16 = 0.9375
48/5 = 9.6

and if you get two decimal values get the one close to the value 1
3/4 = 0.75
1/2 = 0.5

therfore 48/5 in the first is larger and 3/4 in the second is larger, it's that simple

Given any two fractions, and you want to know which is larger, merely transform one of them to have the same denominator as the other and compare numerators.

In some cases you will have to transform both fractions so they have the same denominator.

Examples:

5/8 and 11/16

Here we multiply 5/8 by 2/2 giving 10/16 and see that 11/16 is larger than 5/8

7/9 and 3/4

Here we multiply 7/9 by 4/4 giving 28/36 and multiply 3/4 by 9/9 giving 27/36 and see that 7/9 is larger than 3/4.
