I understand using the words "cant, wont, aint, dont" and so on and so forth. But people have just gotten to where they use half the letters in words and some just one at the most.
I see words such as "wut, wud, tha, da, dere, peeps, dat," and a great many others.
Why is it that people want a question answered but they never bother with actually using proper words. Half the time on here I can barely read the question, much less understand what it is, in order to answer the question.
What gives? I just have a 7th grade education, but I know better than to use such slang as what is used here. Seriously, has education dropped that low, that people are no longer demanded to speak and spell and use proper grammer and punctuation anymore?
Its almost as if the questions some people ask are asked in a foreign language, when really its just english. The spelling is awful, and the grammer is worse, and of course no one seems to know what the word punctuation means.

I apologize for the incorrect spelling of the word grammar.. It is an easy word to misspell. If you understood the gist of my question you wouldnt have bothered with the small things that I misspelt or the fact that I didnt correctly spell ain't, isn't so on and so forth.
Fortunately there are actually some people who understand what I was trying to say.
Obviously there are more nit pickers than I thought.
To the rest of you thank you for the opinions that you gave.

Hey there MEE. If you had understood the question your answer would have been directed towards what I was saying. Not everyone spells correctly all of the time. Simple spelling errors are easy to make, however that is not what I was referring to. I was referring to the LACK of proper spelling when it is apparent that these people know better.
Mayhap you are one of these people that show a lack of proper spelling quite often, but simply can't stand it when someone calls you on it. You are one of these people who thinks that the use of proper language while you are calling someone out makes you look quite the proper person. However I think often that you mistake the nature of the questions you are answering, because for all of your proper spelling and grammar, you don't understand the meanings or definitions of the words.

It all started when Ebonics came into being, allowing a subculture to misspell and misuse words willy nilly to accommodate their cultural standing (Hogwash - it was lazy, that's all it was) Add to that nonsense, the failure of parents to apply standards to their kids, so that they entered the school systems needing discipline as much as education... There was no time for details around the English language.
Then comes rap music, and gangstas as role models - now every kid in the nation is emulating that ghetto style with the abbreviations you mentioned (wut, wat, wuz, da, etc) They think it makes them look hip. To older people like myself, they just look lazy and misguided.
Then comes Spell Check. Spell Check is to language what the calculator was to mathematics. Whats the point of learning the correct way, when a machine will guide you?
I find it all very disheartening and sad.

I don't think it has very much to do with what your first language is. That you can see as just bad sentence structure.
Grammar is spelled wrong, yes. That happens. There is no need to jump all over her about it. Putting 'wut' in place of 'what' is not a simple spelling error. It is a disregard for the proper way of speaking and writing. I suspect that it arose out of trying to type faster and shortening the words to do it in email and text messages. Honestly, it would be faster if they just learned how to type in the first place. It's not particle physics.
They think it's "fun" now, wait until they are adults and they talk like that. It makes them sound uneducated. I know a few people that speak and write that way. I correct them just like my mother corrected me. Parents, encourage your kids to speak and write properly. I couldn't stand it when my mom did it, but I am so glad she did now!

If you are considering the people on here - it's probably due to the fact that many of them are not speaking English as a first language. If you mean people in general, you have people who are so used to typing on line that they use all the abbrevations. It is terribly annoying.

It's very annoying, isn't it?
Like when most people use the word "women" when they are speaking of a single person...."I know this women at the office and want to ask her out"...it's very irritating. WOMAN is singular, WOMEN is plural people!!!

This IS the internet. Most people don't want to take the time with correct grammar, spelling, etc. (What do you think they came up with stuff like LOL or BRB for?) You can usually pretty much figure out what they mean.
And that would be "can't, won't, ain't, don't".

Your additional details are hilarious. You go completely against the question you are asking, making several errors and then calling people nitpickers for calling you on it.

I have noticed it too. Maybe they have gotten so use to using abbreviations, while text messeging on their cell phones. they are just use to it. The alternative answer is they are just plain lazy
