i've lost brake feel in my 68 charger. brakes only activate after full travel, an even then it's not much. they're vacuum assisted, but there are no leaks in the vacuum system. could it be fluid related? new disks and calipers. could roll control have done something?feels like the fronts aren't doing anything. anyone who has had a similar problem, i'd love to hear from you, cause i love having brakes. come in handy sometimes. you know, like stopping.

What you describe is probably air in the system. Were they bled correctly until there was no air or old fluid?
If there are ANY air bubbles at ANY of the four wheels, bleed until there is nothing but clean clear brake fluid.
The other VERY common failure is the Master Cylinder. Many times after major brake repair, when the brakes are bled, the piston inside the master cylinder travels beyond its normal stroke, and picks up contamination at the bottom of the cylinder. The contamination will either damage the rubber seal components, or it will interfere with the seal, and trying to compress the fluid becomes moot, because there is no seal to allow compression.
One last thing--be sure that the rear brakes are properly adjusted. If there is too much gap between the shoe face and the drum surface, the wheel cylinders will have to travel too far and too much fluid is displaced for a good pedal.

Being a mo-par person, I would have a real good look at the vacuum booster. I recall 68 charger having drum brakes all around,a few with front disc's. Try the simple fix an adj the rear brakes see if this brings up the petal. If the petal feels mushy try bleeding them and look for leaks.

You probably have air in your lines somewhere. Bleed the wheel cylinders and calipers. Start with the one furthest from the master cylinder and work to the next furthest and so on. If you are not getting any air out of the lines then most likely you have a failing master cylinder and it will need replacing.

I am an auto tech and would like to own a 68 charger so do us all a favor and take good care of your car, you should take it to a technican that can properly diagnose the problem instead of messing around with your investment,take care.
