Here in B.C. Canada English Laurels thrive in any ordinary garden soil. They are mainly planted for a hedge. This vigorous evergreen shrub reaches a height of 15-20 feet. My experience is that this plant grows without cultivation and no additional fertilizer.

WHAT? cut the damned things down! These laurel hedges grow so well I am always having to cut them back. In our last house I spend weeks cutting the laurel back and after a couple of days you couldn't see where I had cut it.

Rabbit pellets (the ones FROM the rabbit, not FOR the rabbit) is the best , strong but gentle fertilizer I have used, it makes everything great!
