A bruise isn't an open wound, so Neosporin won't do anything for it. Ice and elevation will help heal a bruise. A triple antibiotic cream is better for a first or small second degree burn. More severe burns should receive treatment from a physician.

I doubt it was the toothpaste that caused the bruising. More than likely you bruised it while popping it and the toothpaste aggravated it even more. Do not pop your own pimple! In the mean time, try icing the area to reduce any swelling. Cleanse the area and apply neosporin to prevent any more aggravation, this will also help with scarring. If you want a more natural approach you could also apply honey, preferably manuka. It might take a few weeks to heal because of the size. Once it's healed you could try using alpha hydroxy acids to lighten any scarring.

it would only help open wounds. so it would help a burn but not a bruise.

as far as bruises go, i have found that arnica montana (found at a health food/vitamin store) is amazing to preven swelling when used immediately after getting bumped or injured.

burns yes, bruises no. It pretty much helps any kind of "wound" so it heals faster, prevents infection, & helps prevent scarring. You still may scar, but it wont be as noticable as it would be had you not used it.
