well ROM= is read only.. so the machine can only read from it..
on a pc there is proberly about 4mb of ROM memory
but RAM =Random Access wich can be read/writed to
a standard machine has 512MB of RAM.
the ROM is only used on startup of the machine, then the machine uses the RAM to process applications.

ROM is readed only when your compter starts up, it will take information from it about the hardware and how to deal with it, then the OS and all applications you use are loaded on the RAM, thus RAM is more important for you
