I have somewhat the same problem.

I think you could try to be a bit rude, some kind of a friendly rude!
Like, Laugh like hell after the joke, then say very seriously "That was the WORST joke I'd ever heard in my life!" and laugh like hell again! or something like that.

Sometimes, the very lameness of a joke makes me laugh! I was in stitches after hearing this one for a minute or 2:

- Which one do you like best? Orange or Lemon?
-Tangerine!

Can you believe that?!

Yea..thats hard. Try not to put too much into the laugh. Use the air coming out of your nostrils laugh with a smile. And always say, Goodone.

To make it sound realistic, daydream about a joke that's actually funny, and try to keep from laughing until he makes it to the punchline.

ok heres a thought. the next time someone makes a joke and its not funny, don't laugh..don't even try. just stare evenly at them and state" that's not funny" why? why be so rude? it's not nice..ah but consider this, laughter is the brains response to suprise .To force it, your mind struggles with it, obviously youre not laughing,it realizes, and merely attempting to create some kind of sound with your throat. Just think, the next time you laugh, you'll be able to really enjoy it.

Why? Are you trying to encourage them to tell more lame jokes? Really, it's best to laugh when jokes are funny, and stay silent when they're not.

I usually employ the good ol' "silent laugh" for those types of situations. Then you never sound condescending. Variation: Smile big with an open mouth and shake your head.

Yeah. It's like a fake orgasm: As long as the person telling the joke gets theirs, why should they care if you're faking?! You're the one going without! Wake up and smell the insincerity...

Just think of how stupid it is and laugh at them instead of the joke they don't know the difference.
