Excellent question!
I got nothin'
Our only benefit is mythical. The fundamentalist Christians think that if we help Israel retake her "rightful" place as "God's chosen people" in the holy land, the second coming of Christ will be upon us.
Instead, we've given Israel $3 billion annually to foment anti-American hatred as a consequence of their oppression of the Palestinians acompanied by Israeli imperial land-grabs- as we turn a blind eye. This, predictably, fuels global terrorism and its apocalyptic designs, which feeds back into the first, mythical motivation.
An all around bad deal for everyone- in the REAL world.

A right hand man too kick in some arab teeth every now and then. Who would you have us side with Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Hamaas.
I am fairly liberal, but I can tell you this, Isreal is one of the last "good guys" left in this world. If you were to disarm the Arab population in the middle east you would get some semblance of piece. Should you disarm Israel you get a lot of dead Jews.
Pay attention and understand the history of this whole situation. This debacle in the middle east is the fault of the UN. Israel just came out on the winning side because middle age warfare doesn't do squat against Abrams Tanks.

Um, how about this: Not being allied with terrorist groups like Hezbollah and Mujaheddin, or terrorist countries like Syria, Lebanon, and Iran. Sounds like we got a real bargain.
UPDATE: Politically wise, yes. The right thing to do, no. Sometimes, you have to take a side and stand up to the bully nations and terrorist groups instead of doing the "politically wise" thing and not getting involved.

Gained us alot of P.O.ed people for simply siding with Israel all the time. Also gained bilions of dollars of more debt by all the money we sent them in foreign aid and military assistance. Plus we get to spend even more to defend against those who hate us becuase we are so biased towards Israel.
Oh, the lobbiests have benefited quite a bit I'm sure...

We stand on our own convictions and don't go with the flow. Israel has given us favor with God. After all they are his "choosen people" of the Bible.
People who are against Isreal and plot to destroy them will be defeated by God Almighty himself!
