Years ago, I would have gone in and asked a Bobby for directions! Sadly, it's not an automatic thing to do now - even if it is a manned police station.

hi laura i live in the area so its pretty easy,but wouldnt recommend walking its to far and its not the greatest of area's.....you can catch any bus in plumpstead high street that takes you into woolwich town centre, then catch the 177 or the 180 bus.. if you walk up the high street
until you get to the woolwich ferry roundabout you can catch the 177 or 180 from there......if you can go an alternaive route catch the train to charlton.. the football ground id round the corner...
