Women say that men should always put the toilet seat down as a courtesy to them. Why do women not raise it as a courtesy to men? If a man goes 5 times in a day we can assume that 1 of those times will be for a BM. He will need the seat down only 20 percent of the time. A woman on the other hand has to have the seat down 100 percent of the time. So, is it reasonable for the woman to expect the man to put the seat down every time when he only needs it down 20 percent of the time? Likewise is it reasonable for a man to want the woman to leave the seat up for him when she needs it down 100 percent of the time? I say that it would be more reasonable for every one individually to make sure the seat is in the position in which they need it before they proceed. That way woman won’t get their butts wet and men won’t have to hear the cursing and screaming coming from the bathroom. In other words find something more important to complain about. It may save your marriage or relationship

The proper thing to do would be to put both the seat and the lid down after using. That is the way the toilet should look when you walk in the bathroom. That is why they have toilet lid covers or fancy toilet seats. Mine has pretty fish on the lid, so I usually keep the lid down. Also keeps the cats from drinking the water.

I've been asking this at the theater where I run sound on weekends. They allow women to use the men's room when the women's room is full (to speed things along during intermission).
I have often asked why the women don't put the seat back up because like you said-- men need it up more than down!

Have a great day!!!

Gents should not mind the seat and carry on so the women take care to lift the seat next time when they sense what is happening. Just joking. the lid should always be kept closed when not in use.

whew... you said a mouthful.... lol... are you a marriage counselor? lol....personally I keep the seat, and lid down... it looks nicer when people drop by and having 4 dogs and one cat it saves them from drinking or falling into blue water...but I do recall as a kid getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night ... half asleep... and falling in the toilet thanks to my brother... seriously though ....if your relationship falls apart over a toilet seat, or a toothpaste cap etc etc.... you really never had a solid relationship anyway...

If men sh*t in paper bags and pissed in the sink, then we could leave the toilet seat down 100% of the time and everyone would be happy.

After I use the toilet I raise the seat up for my husband, he lowers it for me. I believe 50/50 we have always done this.

What a trivial thing to waste your time arguing about.
Both the lids should be closed after anyone uses the tiolet!
