Ignore them all, its obvious that they're not lightscribe users! I've been using lightscribe for a year now and I swear that its absolutely fantastic.

You can print ANYTHING onto your CD (not just text) - granted it will be monochrome, but the quality is just outstanding. It looks professional, none of this "printed on a white label" rubbish. I use it for business purposes and it really does look superb. Every time I give a client a CD they look at it in awe and say "cool!".

Lightscribe disks are slightly more expensive than normal disks - 10 DVDs (with cases) will set you back about £8 on amazon and 10 CDs will set you back about a fiver. But you don't have to burn everything onto lightscribe disks - I use them just for special occasions - its true that you can't lightscribe a label onto a normal disk, but if you're just doing every day stuff you probably don't need to. A lightscribe drive will still burn data/music onto a "normal" disk.

Lightscribe is for those special occasions when you want to show off. Lightscribe is the money to look at and ridiculously cheap when you see the quality (a lightscribe drive costs about the same as a normal DVD recorder - £25-30).

I can't recommend it high enough. Ignore the others, give it a go. The worst case scenario is that you'll just stop using the labelling function - the drive is still exactly the same as any other so you've still go a good working DVD burner. Either way you'll be better of than those that mock it!

If you want to know anything specific feel free to drop me an email.

I have an external lightscribe dvd writer the lightscribe discs are app 80p to one pound each at the moment, they do only burn greyscale, but you can burn photo's & text, and if the contrast is taken up on the black & white images befor you burn them i have had very good results.
The drive i have is a medion multi format with ram , and was well worth the £40 i paid for it,
just waiting for the discs to come down in price.

From what I've heard about lighscribe, its a waste and pain in the bum. It won't write to normal CD-R's or DVD-R's so you will need to buy special 'lightscribe' discs which are more than expensive...

Only in Black and White, however you can put photos on it. I love it. My HP computer came with this feature. You have to use sonic program to burn the image onto the disc. Takes about 10 min. to burn. Works great though.

If you like to design your on disc for Great Eye Candy, this is for you.

I hear you can only do text and only in black and white. Does not sound worth it.
