Why is it that the slowest lorries on our roads seem to be 'express' delivery lorries? (nightfreight, target, lynx etc etc) I have been stuck behind so many going painfully slowly along national speed limit roads it's untrue. Today was another typical example.

If I had paid good money to get my parcel delivered by one of them, I would at least like them to do it quickly, intead of dawdling along like a bunch of wombles!

Has anybody else noticed this seeming contradiction?

let me just explain, i mean lorries travelling at 40mph or less on national speed limit ROADS, not driving at 60mph and me wanting them to go faster!

Is that the only question you are going to ask?

That lorry that is dawdling along is probably going to deliver the parcels tomorrow, so whats the rush. If it is off the motorway then it is more than likely to be on its way to or from a depot.
As you were following at the national speed limit whats your problem, He cant go any faster. That would be breaking the law.

A lot of the big companies have their vehicles fitted with speed limiters, stopping the drivers going over a certain speed. The satellite tracking on our vans tell the transport office our whereabouts and current speed which is a pain in the ****!!

UPS moves right along. I think many times over the speed limit. At least they are being cautious and trying to get your partial to you. I know you would be the last one to pay the speeding fine for them and they also stand to loose their license which could lead to the lose of their job. Just be thankful you get your partial.

If I paid good money to get my parcel, then I would expect it to be delivered in one piece!!! Maybe they take that into consideration instead of having boxes crashing and banging while driving at a speed !!

Their maybe more careful on the road, you sound like one of those drivers who are always in a hurry and have no patience on the road, more likely you would cause and accident being impatient

No, never noticed that. Maybe they are just being more cautious so that nothing happens to iterfer with them getting their packages delivered on time.
