Ive smoked for 12 years then i quit "thank God".
And I've notice several things. Haven been a smoker and not.
Their are a few very noticeable characteristic of smokers versus.
Non smokers . Your opinion please?

yes, maybe the psychology used to override the conscience that cigarettes are bad is the same psychology related to being cynical.

Hi. Smoking used to be a peer pressure activity. Some people have addictive personalities and continue to smoke long after the "coolness" is gone. Some do it for the risk. I don't think it makes you cynical (except maybe towards the medical evidence that it is harmful). I know cynics who do NOT smoke.

I don't know if the links is a for sure thing, but I imagine that there is a link between lack of smelling ability, which smoking causes and the ability to enjoy the little things in life...
Makes me want to quit even more now, thank you for the question..

Why does Dennis Leary come to mind? To answer your question, maybe it's because smokers these days have to put up with a lot of sideways glances and smart alec remarks. That makes them a little more defensive/cynical.

I don't think that particular trait is linked to smoking, but it would make an interesting case in streotypes.
