Not sure about that one, but I just came across this product on the web, you might try it. It says it will remove all ink from any surface.
Clean computers, desks & keyboards too. Even wash walls and kids areas.
Erases ball point, rollberball, magic marker, felt-tip and fountain pen ink.
If this link fails to work go to http://www.alwaysbrilliant.com
and type in ink stain remover, or stains

Good Luck

Never use fingernail polish remover on wood! You'll take the finish off instantly. (and that's from experience!)

For Sharpie marks spray the area liberally with hairspray (Aqua Net works well) and allow to sit for about five minutes. Then use a terry cloth washcloth or Mr. Clean magic eraser to scrub area until clean. Wash area afterwards to remove stickyness.

Even if there are other ideas at least try the hairspray first...If it doesn't work you can always try something more drastic later.

Use rubbing Alcohol on a cotton ball.
If that doesn't get it use a very small amount of nail polish remover.
This will also take any finish off the table.

Depends on how the wood is finished. Try a Magic Eraser (Mr. Clean makes this) on an inconspicuous spot to make sure it doesn't damage the wood.

Try hairspray. Let it sit for a few seconds. Put some elbow grease into it and try rubbing it off. If that doesn't work you could also try toothpaste. Might sound weird, but it has abrasives in it that help remove stains.
Good luck!

Try using an eraser, I know that sounds weird, but when in doubt when I've had something "permanent" stuck on wood, an eraser has removed it. Don't know if it will work but it's worth a shot!

Acetone might work. (Fingernail polish remover.) But I am not sure what it will do to the wood's finish.
