My neibor was walking her grandchild down the street, we talked and I asked what her grandchilds name was and she said it was Charles. I Said "I had a cat named Charles". As I walked away, I said to myself, I hope I wasnt insulting the name. Was I ?

Not at all, I think it would have been a compliment, and it was nice to hear that you took the time and had a chat with her, and showed interest in her grand son. That probably made more of an impression dear.

ummm I would have to say yes. I think saying you HAD a cat named Charles and we are talking about a child, yep I think so.

i don't think that is considered insulting the name. It sounds to me like you like the name since you named your cat that. Don't feel bad about that!
