You could try taking it to Auto Zone, I have been told they will add you in finding out which sensor is bad for free. The Grand Prix also had a turbo charged engine, even an air leak in the ducting to the intake can cause the computer to make the engine wrong wrong. I repaired one once that had a head gasket that was leaking between the clylinders. So that when it fired in one clyinder part of the gases were blown into the other clyinder. You may need to run a compression check. A lot of funny things can happen with these cars. I also had one where there was very little left of one valve, it had badly burned. I don't want to go into all the bad things, but they happen.

130K isn't lots, although that is previous the element the place what quite concerns is the way it become maintained, no longer who equipped it sixteen years in the past. A a million proprietor vehicle at 130K may well be very healthful. A vehicle that is been by 4 proprietors and a couple of bankrupt college scholars is in all probability a wreck. The 3800 (sequence II on that vehicle) has a bigger popularity than the 3100. the undertaking with 3100s of that era is the intake manifold gaskets fail. the mixture of plastic-framed gaskets and GMs cherished DexCool coolant is often blamed. The 3800 S2's weak spot is the plastic bigger intake plenum, which especially situations melts from the EGR. This finally ends up in coolant->oil an infection and if no longer observed, wiped bearings interior the engine. Older 3800s weren't blessed with a plastic intake. A relative has a ninety seven Grand Prix 3800 and that i observed their plenum has a date marking some years extra modern than the vehicle, so it become replaced before in life. yet interior the time they have owned it, a minimum of 10 years now, the plenum hasn't failed. different than the plenum, the 3800s have a sturdy popularity. GM computerized transmissions are the fairly some superb, and that i've got no longer heard of the GP being companies to trans themes. in no way purchase a vehicle that slips in kit, and don't purchase a vehicle that desires to overheat.

you have not properly diagnosed your car,s problem and will not do so unless you know how to do so properly, now here goes, under the dash on the driver,s side you will see a plug with a female connection marked a,b c,d,e,f, run the car for ten minutes and with a paper clip jump the wires from a to b with the key in the on position, not with the car running, when you have done this you have entered into the car,s diagnostic mode computer,if you were in the military you would know what is morse code and how to use it ,same here ,there will be a flashing amber light that signals three times the same codes for every problem that the car has ,code twelve will be one flash a pause and then two flashes write down all the codes until it returns to the first code ,call up your dealership and ask them what they mean so you can start fixing your vehicle, start with the simple things and work your way up the ladder, good luck
