At least as much is needed to cover hospital expenses, minimum. My health plan covered the delivery after a $1000 deductible PER FAMILY MEMBER. I knew I'd have a $1000 deductible for myself and then the insurance would cover 80% until I paid another $1000 out of pocket. If the baby was healthy then all charges would fall under me and there would be no seperate bill for the baby, but if the baby was not healthy and needed any additional care that would require a seperate bill to be sent to insurance then it would be subject to yet another $1000 deductible plus up to another $1000 out of pocket. We were able to save $3000 in advance and wound up using $2300. The rest we put towards additional baby supplies. I'd say at least have the minimum saved and if you can save more that's great, however, you can only be prepared to a certain extent. You're never fully financially prepared.

if you are a responsable adult in a commited relationship with an income and you want a baby then have a baby money isnt everything and most of the children born in the world today have parents with no money in the bank when you have a child you make due if everyone waited until they hade 50,000 dollars in the bank to have a baby there would be very few babies in the world thats not to say everyone should just go out and have a baby and figure it out along the way you have to make sure that you are in a situation to provide for yourslef and your child that you have an income that will provide what you need if not always what you want.

You'll need at least a couple thousand if you want to buy all the cool baby stuff. There's no right amount of money when you have a baby. It'll never be enough, lol.
What's more important than amount of savings is the amount of money coming in. What I mean is, even if you have $50k in savings, if you're only making $150/week, that $50k is going to run out quickly and you'll be screwed.

The most you can save because you will need it. Remember when you save up the money when you start to use it toward the pregnancy or for the baby: Spend wisely! You and your baby should have the best care and the best things.

Savings!?1!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
lol, no matter how much you have, you will spend it getting ready for the baby. you need at least one year supply of money to pay bills incase you can't get back to work for a long time. you also need a year supply of dry foods like pastas and other items. I had my first child before i had any savings. Now with three we a small savings but we mae more than we spend. thats the important part, spend less than you make. also, one last thing. buy tons of diapers and wipies! you can never have to many.

We were suprised by out pregnancy and had just exhausted our entire savings by moving to a new state, but our goal is $5000 after all the baby stuff is bought just to supplement until I can go back to work. However, we have incrdible medical insurance that's 100% paid for by my job, and a maternity stipend while I'm away...
It still doesn't seem like enough!

To tell you the truth, we didn't have very much saved up. But baby's are very expensive! If you have not already, start taking a good amount out of your paycheck and put in savings and don't touch it. You'll need it for sure! Good Luck :)

If you are pregnant with twins, save twice as much as if you were gonna pop out a solo.

you can never have enough money for kids or pregnancy, just make sure you have a good job that you can keep or that the dad can keep and that you have the space you need for a growing baby (but what do I know I lived in my inlaws garage the first year of my daughters life) lol

Three months pay. If you are eligible for disability benefits, you will be getting approximately half of what you are currently making. Three months pay would allow you to stay home longer (disability lasts 6-12 weeks depending on what kind of birth you have).
