not unless i meet them i mean how do you know that they are who the say they are.

Yes they are, but the chatting is chatting it should stop there. you can share your thoughts and get the opinion and keep the level there so you can find who is serious and who is not serious about your chatting contents and you can choose. being truth in internet chat room is a relative question. i cannot give my name, place, etc in the internet, i avoid my photo in internet. it does not mean i am not true to my opinion. the anonimosy is the key to the true opinion. if you expect everybody to tell their true name over chat and is that the measure of true friends then NOPE.

chatting may result as a friendship between two persons but it is difficult to tell it a true friendship. a true friend is one who can sacrifice everything for his/her friend. but unless the 2 friends involved in chatting meet together understand themselves they cannot b true friends

Yes.. one of my best friends I met online about 8 years ago. We talk all the time about EVERYTHING and even though we've only met once we both value the other's opinions. We've been friends through different relationships and we're both comfortable saying when we think the other is making a mistake.
She knows more about me than any other friend in person.. she ranks right under my husband.

Yes, I have a couple of people On line, and we are becoming very good friends. I hope to meet them one day, and the anticipation is a wonderful feeling.

Yes,however, after about a year the e-mails and IMs just stopped. I got an e-mail from her daughter two weeks later, telling me her mother had passed away.
