at 18 weeks they can see it; at least they saw mine, eat grapes before you get the ultrasound or take them with you to your appointment that will make the baby open the legs. My baby had his legs closed but I'm lucky to have a doctor with patience that told me to do this and waited about 15 minutes and then there was my baby's wee wee.

No the sex organs on a baby develop at 9 weeks of pregnancy so when your next scan at 20 weeks comes around if your little one does not cross the legs you should be able to see the sex organs. If that does not work and you have some money you can go to ucbaby and have an ultrasound done at any time it's cool it's 3-d cost $200 but you get a picture CD and a 30 min DVD of your ultrasound to music it's breathtaking. Or if that is not an option you can go to this site on old wives tales on boy/girl and it gives you a % it's just for fun www.childbirth.org/articles/boyorgirl.html

I felt like you, too! Yes and no about determining the sex at 17 weeks. They SHOULD be able to tell the sex during your ultrasound, but not if the baby's feeling particularly SHY that day. Sometimes they can get between the legs, sometimes NOT. If you have a cool, experienced Ultrasound Technician, they usually are right at their educated guesses if they can't see clearly. Also, I read on the Internet AND in a magazine (BabyCenter?) that 71% of mothers asked were able to properly detect//predict the sex of their baby. Also, many people are TOLD what they are having when it is actually the OTHER sex. For about $200 bucks, a very worthwhile investment is to get a 3D ultrasound. I did and it was so mindblowing and amazing. Check it out ~ gender determination is almost dead on because of the clarity of images: http://www.babywaves3d.com ~ I'm having a girl. Congrats to you!!!

I had my gender-determining ultrasound at 16 weeks and that's when I found out what I was having. So I don't think that 17 weeks is too soon. I heard the best is between 18 and 20 weeks, but I proved them wrong!

Being impatient! Haha. that is notably lots how I unquestionably have been spending my time. I unquestionably have heard such many human beings on right here say that with their next infants (after the 1st), the time purely flew by ability of with the aid of fact they have been so preoccupied. LIES!! I unquestionably have a sixteen month previous and a three 12 months previous and this wait is not any much less complicated to handle. and that i'm many times distracted. i'm going to be 35 weeks on Friday (ok, that is an confident stat...i'm 34 weeks and four days) and it style of sounds like my guy is in no way gonna get right here. i won't be able to wait to fulfill him, having him connect our family participants, and see my older infants with their little brother. i'm so waiting for my physique back to myself. yet fortuitously i'm no longer uncomfortable yet and unquestionably have had an elementary being pregnant. even though it does not make the wait any better. Have issues to seem forward to in the previous the toddler comes, like a toddler bathe, a stay overall performance, a visit, etc. That enables.

It's not too early. I found out at 17 weeks 5 days with this baby. Had another ultrasound at 24 weeks and both ultrasounds showed a boy.

my doctor say that he likes to wait until 20-25 weeks befor he trys to find out because befor that the sex organs are just forming into something that looks like a boy or girl. he said after 20 weeks it is better to tell what it is.
i want to know my self and my next ultrasound won't be until November i will be about 25 weeks then. i hate the waiting game with, it finding out what it is.
hope this help out. but if you are wondering ask your doc on your next visit when he plans on doing another ultrasound and tell him you want to know what it is.

I think it is too early. Usually you will be able to tell the sex of the baby around 22 weeks. I've heard of numerous "symptons" you can look for to guess the baby's sex but don't think that's really accurate.
