Theres a lot that took place long before, during and even after Vietnam.
The problem with Vietnam was that our troops had poor and very limited intelligence, the war was extremely under funded, and there werent enough troops to fight the battle. Not to mention that there was resentment at home towards all the troops, not just the war.
War is war. Mistakes are made in war, and wars are fought in poor taste. Our troops arent, and have never been murderers. Those men suffered horribly. I have veterans in my family, and most closely to me is my next door neighbor who will never be emotionally whole because of that war.
The war was bad, but the treatment those troops got upon arriving home... they'll all tell you they would have been better off dead in nam.
Killing would have continued in Vietnam if we had never entered the war, it was an incredibly insecure and volatile area. If not soldiers killing soldiers, it'd be killing civilians.
If it had been supported at home, and seriously funded and executed the Vietnam war would have been beneficial, instead of an oozing sore on all our conscious'.

Unfortunately Vietnam turned out poorly because the liberal whiners got their way and forced a pull out allowing Communism to take foot in South Vietnam.
I do not believe there would have been a killing spree because most people would have probably fled. They believed America was going to stand up for them and we would have if the "feel good" party had some balls.

No. Some are kept in the area to police the area to keep the "peace". Vietnam was a different time and a different place. Our boys didn't have the support of the population and other difficulties. They did their best. I respect them for what they lived through in Nam. I don't know what I would have done in their place. Let's not try to blame so many years after the war. Let's just put it behind us and move on.

I assume youre referring to Pol Pot and the Khmer rouge killing 3 million people under the guise of a new communist regime filling in the power vacume after US forces left the region, under pressure from the hippies to leave early. Even though vietcong commanders said that the tet offensive had depleted them militarily, they still won because the hippies pursuaded the american people that we did not have the WILL to win the war, even when we came close to winning it militarily.
Who will fill the power vacume if we leave Iraq early? a terrorist sponsoring nuclear power Iran? a new Islamic caliphate bent on destroying the west?
Or if we wait till the job is done, a democratic peaceful country, the new Iraqi republic.

WoW!!! nicely i idea MY husband turned right into a mommas boy! you've married your self to an fairly immature mommas boy. The bible even says a guy is to leave his mum and dad and cleave to his spouse. you could not stay as a married couple and make a relatives if he only should be up lower than his momma perpetually. Is he nevertheless breastfeeding? possibly thats why he's there each and each of the time LOL. Sorry yet for genuine, you'll spend something of your marriage in competition at the same time with his mom in case you do not placed a end to it now. i'm coping with that now and its a no win challenge. I actually imagine you want to contemplate different recommendations and search for a guy who's extra on your aspect.

and not until....the military is at the command of the president and the commanders of their unit, they are assigned a job and they are trained to see it through no matter how difficult or unpleasant....just like police officers, nurses, doctors, emt's and the like they save people like you from seeing the ugly side of life. you have no idea what it takes for a soldier to put aside everything, family, personal beliefs etc and risk his life and limb for his country and you can never understand because you live a comfortable life free from tyranny and dictators. you would never be able to speak out in other countries the way you do here especially being a woman. its very easy for you to whine, complain and judge from the comfort of your home and with the freedoms and privileges that you enjoy as a citizen of the u.s. trying living in another country like the locals do and you will soon see how lucky you are and how thankful you should be for the many, many sacrifices our men and women in uniform and out who have gone before you so you can spew your uneducated and bigoted venom without risk or responsibility.....grow up, get educated and get involved rather than sit around bashing others you know nothing about.

Yes, the killing would've occured without our intervention. We just slowed them down for awhile. Vietnam was a mess. That's what we get for trying to help out France.
