To AngelCake - this question is in the politics section, he's talking about casting an actual election vote! Not a vote on Yahoo Answers.
In answer to the question - there's no "none of the above" option because even if that was the majority in a vote, nobody would be elected - they'd have to start all over again. Although, I think that such an option should exist, that way there wouldn't be so many spoilt ballot papers.

Not sure there should be a "none of the above" option. Most ballot papers there will be somebody that you can vote for. You can't agree with every policy a party or person stands for.
I agree sometimes it is a very very difficult choice but be thankful at least we get the chance to vote.

I agree. i do no longer have faith all of us working perfect now to be in can charge of our us of a. The election seems so scandalous. Why spend plenty funds on campaigning whilst there are human beings ravenous to dying or loss of life from AIDS simply by fact they don't have get right of entry to to medicine or they are in a position to't study simply by fact they have been in no way given the prospect. the place are our priorities as human beings? whilst are we going to place a end to this and start up battling for what it perfect and in simple terms? i'm so upset in this election and the country. we are headed down a depressing direction yet no person seems to care or be conscious.

There is such voting system in some countries. It is a very complicated voting system and, in my view, totally meaningless.
I think people who don't vote will not even vote for the apathy party.

'Cos 'None of the above' would get elected every time!
I think there should be an official 'abstention' option - if you don't vote, people assume it's just because you are apathetic. In my case, I genuinely do not wish to mandate any of the parties to act in my name!

because if none of the above polled the most votes then it would have to be rerun until someone was elected and that would be hugely expensive

If you do not want to vote for a candidate you can leave that space blank and a vote will not be counted for any candidate.

I guess you just would not bother voting if you didnt like any of the candidates.... I guess they only have that option in countries such as Australia where it is illegal not to vote.

Anyone remember the campaign - Nobody for President? The campaign symbol was an empty chair.
