How bad is the baked on grease? If it's not too bad you can use the baking soda paste, if it's really bad you can spray the bottom with Easy Off oven cleaner, let it sit and then rinse it off. You can seal it in a plastic bad so you don't have to deal with the fumes while the Easy Off is working.

If you're talking a copper bottom on the outside of a pan, do this: Cut a lemon in half, then sprinkle salt on the upended bottom of the pan. Use the lemon to scrub with the salt. It restores the copper to a like-new look.

If you're talking about the inside of a pan - I'm with everyone who suggested steel wool - it works wonders.

Use Bar Keepers Friend with an S.O.S. pad or something with a rough side. Follow the directions. You can find it at wal-mart with the cleaning supplies. I've been using it for a few years and it works great!

Use a SOS pad and a little elbow grease. It will clean up like shiny penny.

If you mean the copper bottom, use vinegar and steel wool. I remember my grandmother using the brine that dill pickles come in.
