When I would brake, my steering wheel would shake really badly. But it was fine when I would just drive. I then braked, and let go of the steering wheel, and now it doesnt shake anymore.. Please tell me why it might be doing this. Thank you..

Also, I did almost get hit yesterday, and I slammed on brakes, could that be a factor?

Thanks in advance.

Have your front brakes inspected. I think that when you slammed on your brakes you caused one of the calipers to stick open. When you subsequently braked the caliper freed itself. This can happen especially if your brake pads are at the end of their life.

Your brake rotors are warped. When you has to brake real hard you overheated them a little bit, and they might have been a little old already. A simple front brake job (change rotors and pads) will fix the problem. In the meantime you can still drive but the shaking gets pretty annoying.

Sounds like warped brake rotors. Take the car to a brake shop and have them look at it. It will get worse the longer you drive it. Probably not a critical problem, but you should get it in to a brake shop in the next couple of weeks.

Sounds like one of your brake pad's could have been stuck...Ya might want to check the thickness of your brake pad's and if the rotor's are warped the car will shake like that too...Good Luck!!

you better get it checked quick, cause it could be dangerous if you keep driving it like that. Take the car to good mechanic (cause some either like to mess up your car to get more money or others just like to rip you off) and ask to get your brakes checked.

Probably a warped rotor. Happened to me before.

yes. Road conditions, like rumpled asphalt (in my town) could combine to exasperate it. YOu could also need new brake pads/shoes. Any squealing?

Get it checked out by a machanic. It could be telling you something.
Just because you have found a work-a-round doesn't mean it'll
work always.
