why do fats release more energy than carbohydrates?

on a weight for weight basis, fats have about twice the number of carbon to hydorgen bonds as do carbhydrates. Energy released from the breaking of these hydrogen bonds powers the body.

they have more bonds and they go through cycles more than once making them more "energy" rich
